Dear Family and Friends,

Hello! As some of you already know, on June 1, 2003 I will be running 26.2 miles in San Diego’s Rock ‘n Roll Marathon! Last month I joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training (TNT, www.teamintraining.org/sac), whose mission is to raise funds for research, patient aid, public education, and ultimately a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, and Hodgkin’s disease. I have committed to myself and the team to training 5 days a week for the next 4 months in order to be ready for the marathon. I am currently running 12 miles which, is not easy for me and I don’t expect it to get any easier although, I know that my battle guarantees an end unlike Imani’s battle.

If you see me in the next 4 months you will notice that I am wearing a hospital wristband which reads the name Imani Armstrong. This bracelet is to remind me of the honoree who I am doing this for and give me the strength to continue my runs as the miles get longer and longer. Imani is an enthusiastic 10 year old girl living in Sacramento who is battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). Currently Imani is in week 53 of her weekly chemotherapy treatments. With 7 surgeries and 5 blood transfusions behind her, she is set to complete her treatments this next December!

My commitment, in addition to running the marathon, is to raise a minimum of $2,400 in honor of Imani and the Leukemia Society. I am inviting you to support me by contributing as generously as you can by April 18th. No amount is too small; it all counts and is very much appreciated.

If you are interested in making a donation you can click on the donate link to your left and print, fill out, and send me your donation sheet.

Imani and I thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions about the program, would like me to add a wristband or a name to my singlet in memory/honor of one of your loved ones, want to go running sometime, or want the details of the marathon so you can come cheer me on, feel free to call (916) 359-1399. Take care and thanks again!

With love and appreciation,

Michele Sunseri
